Picture3Welcome to EEPNA

The Ethiopian Elderly and Pensioners National Association (EEPNA) is a national umbrella institution of older people associations in Ethiopia. It was established by the confederation of 56 associations working for the welfare of the elderly and pensioners   in the year 1998 and got its legal entity in the year 2001.  Establishment of EEPNA was initiated by   a few visionary Ethiopian older men and women leading older people associations and who were dissatisfied with the socio –economic and political marginalisation of older people in the country. The association has also re-registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) Charities and Societies Agency as Ethiopian Charity in 2010.

Since its conception, EEPNA has been provided with technical and financial support by HelpAge International in a bit to enhance its institutional capacity to advocate for the rights of older men and women in the country. This has enabled the association to have ample opportunity of widening its works for the betterment of older people in the country.  Currently, EEPNA is the only institution of its kind representing grassroots older people associations working for the betterment of older men and women in Ethiopia.  The geographical coverage of the EEPNA’s interventions includes all regions and city Administrations of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
